The operator intermodal Synergy has broken another record in 2022. The increase in the number of containers moved, it has resulted in more than a thousand trains put into service last year, which has led to saving 16.112 tons of CO2 released into the atmosphere.
Pablo García, general director of Synergy, has stated that “Our commitment to the environment is total. All of our trains run 100% renewable energyso we can say that they do not cause air pollution.
The logistics operator of the terminal BEST the port of Barcelona has up to five rail services weekly to Miranda de Ebro, one-to-Villafria and Burgos, and up to six to Noain, where he has also added in 2022, its first train reefer with two frequencies from Monday to Friday. “Our customers are looking not only for the quality of our service, and competitive prices. More and more companies are conscious of the environment, and focus their goals on the reduction of the carbon footprint of their logistics chains. This is why they rush to bet on the train.”, explained Paul Garcia.
These actions are encompassed within a strategic commitment for the respect of the environment of the group Hutchison Port. In this sense, the terminal BEST the port of Barcelona has launched in December, an installation of solar panels on the roofs of its buildings with a capacity of nearly 1MW for self-consumption. In addition, the rest of the electricity used by the facility from sources 100% renewable. “In this way, the BEST has become one of the terminals greenest of all the Mediterranean, with an operations model based on the semi-automation and the use of cranes mostly electric,” says the operator in a statement.
