The railway operator Synergy and the customs broker and freight forwarder Altiuslast year, they installed a new and innovative disinfection system container heat treatment within the Hutchison Ports BEST terminal facilities at the Hutchison Ports BEST terminal, on the port of Barcelonawhich perfectly meets the increasingly common demand of many supply chain actors to avoid the use of chemicals to disinfect their goods.
The termodesinfección consists of a treatment with hot air in the interior of the container at a temperature and duration determined, depending on the type of agent who has to fight.
Synergy and Altius state that "thermal disinfection is just as effective as other chemical systems", and expect its use to increase exponentially over the coming years. Thus, the system proposed by these companies to comply with the disinfection of maritime containers is effective, clean and efficient, thanks to its innovative system and to operating it in the same terminal.
Various applications
Thermodisinfection has different applications, such as the disinfection of the goods, or of the pallets that transport them, or simply the empty container to make it suitable for loading certain products. Internationally, there are already countries that are limiting the use of some chemical products and incorporating thermodisinfection as a valid system for their imported goods. This is the case in China for goods such as timber, and in Australia and New Zealand for a wide range of products.
The authorities of these two Oceania countries have already authorised the new Synergy and Altius system for the BMSB (Brown Marmorated Stink Bug) protocol, which is mandatory for exports to these countries, and many customers have already started to use it with the great advantage of working within the terminal itself. Hutchison Ports BESTwhich concentrates the largest maritime offer to Australia and New Zealand in the Port of Barcelona.
